Programming for Data Sciences
Learn to write programs that collect, clean, explore, and visualize data, then use those skills to answer practical questions.
Prerequisite skills
Comfort using a computer and managing files. No programming language is required beforehand; experience with Python, C, or C++ is useful but optional.
Knowledge you need
Basic arithmetic, percentages, averages, and reading tables or spreadsheets. Algebra is helpful but not required.
Skills you will develop
Write Python programs; use variables, conditions, loops, and functions; work with tabular data using pandas; clean datasets; create charts; and explain findings.
Where you can apply it
Prepare research and survey data; automate spreadsheet and routine reports; analyze sales, finance, customer, health, education, or agriculture records; build charts and dashboards; support monitoring and evaluation; and prepare for data analyst, research assistant, or data science study and roles.
Recommendation to Learners
Take this course if you want to make better use of information rather than relying only on manual spreadsheet work. Data is used in business, research, public services, health, and agriculture; learning Python gives you a practical way to clean it, find patterns, and explain evidence. It is also a strong starting point for analytics and machine learning, even if you have never programmed before.
